That Moment

The club is so hot I’m sweating through my dress
And the musics too loud it’s beating in my chest
Singing and swaying to the songs that we hear
Nothing else matters as we cheer
Then the lights come on and closing time starts to play
I always knew tonight was going to end this way
In the Uber ride home my head starts to clear
That moment has come that moment I fear

And as soon as I’m through the front door
I am all alone once more
And no matter how happy I think I am
It all comes crashing down again
There’s no more audience no need for a show
Only the bad thoughts that no one can know

Champagne on ice dressed to the nines
The rounds keep coming all night
And as we pub crawl down the street
We wake people from their sleep
Singing and dancing and slurring our words
Ours the only voices that can be heard
But then someone decides to call it a night
And I feel the silence reach out and grip me tight

As soon as I’m through the front door
I am all alone once more
And no matter how happy I think I am
It all comes crashing down again
There’s no more audience no need for a show
Only the bad thoughts that no one can know

My walls are down I am defenceless
That voice so loud leaving me senseless
You’re all alone because they all hate you
You cannot be loved no one will date you
Sooner or later the voice is gone
It fades away at the brink of dawn
But the scars made can’t be fixed with a smile
It just holds it at bay for a little while

As soon as I’m through the front door
I am all alone once more
No matter how happy I think I am
It all comes crashing down again
There’s no more audience no need for a show
Only those thoughts that no one can know

Little Girl

There once was a little girl
Who knew what she wanted from the world
Her heart was open with nothing but hope
Hands full of the future she held
What happened to all that drive
To the fight you had inside
For everything you ever wanted
When did you feel it die

Get off your ass
Get out of bed
You need to pick yourself up
You need to get out of your own head
There’s no point in tomorrow
If you give up today
So pull yourself out of it
And get on your own way

What will your future hold
If your heart is dead and cold
How do you get up each day
Without that fight in your soul
You won’t get what you want by standing still
You won’t live you dream if you don’t climb that hill
Nothing changes if you stay the same
And there’s always a way so just find the will

Get off your ass
Get out of bed
You need to pick yourself up
You need to get out of your own head
There’s no point in tomorrow
If you give up today
So pull yourself out of it
And get out of your own way

You can hide all you like
But time will pass you by
Til you’re old and grey
And never lived a day in your life
But the girl you buried inside
She’s going the wither and die
If you don’t stop just waiting
If you don’t start to fight

Get off your ass
Get out of bed
You need to pick yourself up
You need to get out of your own head
There’s no point in tomorrow
If you give up today
So pull yourself out of it
And get out of your own way
